The monkey forest in Ubud was by far the best thing I have done in the city. It feels like you walk onto the set of an Indiana Jones Movie! The name Monkey forest didint come out of nothing. This place is packed with monkeys! Big, medium, small, you can see them all! Do listen to the guides because monkeys stay wild animals and can really hurt you if you dont follow the rules.

The coolest daytrip to make from Ubud by far! This was my first time canyoning and holy guacamole, it was a ride! We saw waterfalls, a lot of insectects and green jungles. It definitely was an adreline rush! It is helpfull to be in good shape if you want to go canyoning because you will need to work your body good to make it trough!

Also called the Elephant Cave, Goa Gajah is a unique and fascinating temple located just a few kilometers from Ubud. It was built in the 11th century and originally served as a spiritual site for meditation. The entrance is carved into a large rock face with an intimidating demon-like face, which was meant to ward off evil spirits. Inside, there’s a small cave with ancient stone carvings, shrines, and statues, giving the place a mysterious, almost magical vibe. Guided tours are available if you want to learn more about the temple’s history and symbolism.

This is one of the most impressive temples I have ever seen. Not because of the size but because of the seren admosphere. The detailes on every wall, roof and door are amazing. You could spend hours looking around here

Visiting a coffee plantation in Bali is such a fun and surprisingly relaxing experience. You’ll walk through lush green coffee plants, watch how the beans are picked and roasted, and get to taste different varieties,  including the famous kopi luwak if you’re curious. The tours are usually pretty chill, and you’ll learn a bit about the process while sipping on freshly brewed coffee surrounded by gorgeous scenery. 

Tegallalang is one of those places that looks like it’s straight out of a postcard. The layered green rice fields are maintained using Bali’s traditional subak irrigation system, and walking along them is so peaceful. There are small cafés with amazing views where you can sit, relax, and just soak in the scenery. Early morning or late afternoon is the best time to visit, you’ll get soft light for photos and fewer crowds, which makes it even more magical.

If you’re up for some adrenaline, the Aling Aling waterfalls are a must. They’re really high, and you can jump straight into the clear pools below, it’s a total rush! Some spots are more challenging than others, so make sure you feel confident and safe before taking the plunge. Even just watching people jump is fun, and the scenery is stunning no matter what. It’s definitely one of those “wow, I can’t believe I did this” experiences.

Climbing Mount Batur is one of Bali’s classic adventures. Most hikes start super early (around 2 or 3 AM) so you can reach the summit in time for sunrise. You hike in the dark with a guide, following paths through volcanic rocks, and then the sky slowly lights up in pink and gold over the caldera lake. My first attempt didn’t go perfectly because I got ill, but I’d love to try it again someday. Many tours even include breakfast at the summit and a stop at nearby hot springs afterward, which makes it extra worth it.

Okay, let’s be real, waking up at 2:30 AM is not my usual thing. I rolled out of bed, grabbed my headlamp, and joined amour sleepy but excited guide for the climb. The hike itself was a mix of “Wow, this is amazing” and “Why am I doing this to myself at 3 AM?” Unfortunately, I got really sick during the hike and never made it to the top this time. Total bummer! I can’t wait for round two someday, because Mount Batur is still calling my name. Even from halfway up, the views were incredible, and the idea of catching that sunrise someday keeps me dreaming. Even if hiking isn’t your thing, Mount Batur is still worth visiting. You can enjoy the views from nearby spots or  just from your hostel.

Gili T is a great spot for both beginners and experienced surfers. Renting a board is easy and affordable, around €10 at one of the beachside shacks, and the waves are perfect for practicing or just having fun. Even if you’re new to surfing, there are plenty of instructors around, so you can get a quick lesson and be riding the waves in no time.
