I unexpectedly ended up in the beautiful but busy city of Hong Kong after a 6-month backpacking trip through Southeast Asia. Prior to this trip, I didn't know much about this country. I have to admit, I didn't even completely understand how it was different from China. But after falling in love with this place within a day, I started reading into the history and WOW, what a story! I would highly recommend learning about this place before visiting! But today, I will take you through all my Hong Kong recommendations. This blog is a little bit long, but that is only because I wanted to give you ALL the info you need for your adventure in Hong Kong. This guide will include a packing list, itineraries, activity advice, transport advice, budget hostel advice, and a budget breakdown.

Safety
I have felt safe throughout my entire trip. I had no issues walking at night or walking alone. However, I did find it difficult to travel because of my race: I'm black. The unfiltered racist comments hurt my feelings, even though they didn't make me feel unsafe. Just be aware that you're not alone in feeling this way as a black person in Hong Kong.
Itinerary
Traveling Indonesia can be as short or long as time permits you! After two weeks I felt like I did the highlight but after a month there was still so much to do! You can adjust this itinerary to your own preferences and plan a chat to explore your options!

How To Get Around
Subway
I mainly used the subway to easily get from one place to another. I purchased an Octopus card at the airport and used it throughout my trip. If I was low on money, I would just top it up at one of the machines.
Bus
Public transport is very well-organized in Hong Kong. You can use your Octopus card to check in to the bus or double-decker and easily get from point A to point B. I personally love sitting in the front of the double-decker buses; it really gives you a panoramic view!
Boat
As you might know, Hong Kong is made up of a bunch of little islands. Taking the ferry is an inexpensive and convenient way to explore the different areas of Hong Kong.

Where To Stay?
DAYS HOSTEL
Days hostel was an interesting experience... I chose this hostel because I´m a budget backpacker and I love organising a good trip for little money but in hindsight, I should have paid a bit more for a better hostel.
My three roommates had a weird vibe and made some pretty racist remarks. I understand black people are a minority in Hong Kong but after a day of weird comments, I wasn´t enjoying coming home too the same type of remarks.
Days Hostel was one of the cheapest options though and will give you a bunk bed and a hot shower, which is really all you need because you will most likely be out all day so you only use the room to sleep. I paid 13 euros a night for a bed in a 6-person dorm.
HONG KONG PARK
Hong Kong Park is a great place to chill and unwind after a full day of exploring the chaos of Hong Kong City. The park is super green and there are a bunch of sites to visit.
Chill Out
Duh! I don´t think I have to say it but relaxing is the best part of Hong Kong Park. Grab some snacks at 7/11 and have yourself a nice little picnic.
Museum of Tea Ware
I accidentally came across this place while taking a stroll through the park. The Museum of Tea Ware is a nice museum with an exhibition about everything tea! History, usage, and tea cups. Tea is so much more interesting than I thought. And the best part: it is free to enter!

VICTORIA PEAK
The Peak Tram is a cable car that takes you up to the highest point of Hong Kong: Victoria Peak. This place was the highlight of my Hong Kong trip! Watching the skyscrapers from that height and walking through the misty forest on top of this mountain was absolutely breathtaking!
The Peak Tram
The Peak Tram itself is the best part of Victoria Peak. The tram will take you 396 meters above sea level and gives you an amazing view along the way! Tickets are €14/€16 for a single ride or €17/€20 for a return ticket.
Victoria Peak
There is a lot to do at Victoria Peak like shopping or dining. You can also get a selfie with your favorite celebs at Madame Tussaud Hong Kong!
Victoria Peak Hike
On top of the mountain, you can take a short hike through the lush forest of Hong Kong. Because you are so high up the forest tends to get misty making the hike feel mysterious and magical

CUPNOODLES MUSEUM
I love Cup Noodles. I regularly eat them at home after a long day of work. I knew I had to visit a museum dedicated to them! At the Cup Noodles Museum, you can design your own cup of noodles, including the packaging design and ingredients.
Cup Of Noodels Workshop
Cup of Noodles Workshop: For only €7, you get admission to the museum and are allowed to take the workshop. You start out in the creative area to design your own cup. After you're done, an employee will help you pick your ingredients. When you're finished, you will walk out the door with your very own cup of noodles!"

AVENUE OF STARS
The Avenue of Stars is located along the Victoria Harbour waterfront in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. It is modeled after the Hollywood Walk of Fame and honors celebrities of the Hong Kong film industry. Visitors can check out handprints and statues of celebrities like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan!
Feel Like A Star
The Aveneu of Stars is a really cool place to honor the most important Hong Kongese stars of all time. Get a selfie with the Bruce Lee statue of the handprint of Jackie Chan. This is also a great place to watch the symphony of light and night.

HONG KONG DISNEYLAND
I have visited Disneyland in Paris and Orlando before, so visiting the park in Hong Kong was definitely high on my bucket list. I had an amazing day at the park and met many characters, which made me feel very lucky. Definitely add Disneyland to your itinerary if you're a theme park fan like me.
Disneyland Park
Unlike the parks in Paris and Orlando, Disneyland in Hong Kong only has one park. But with all the fun rides it is plenty for a full day of fun. I took the subway from Hong Kong Sunny Bay to the park and paid €75 for my ticket.
The Rides
The rides at Disneyland are great for all ages. Some are kind of scary, like the Space Mountain rollercoaster, and others are just very pretty like the Jungle River Cruise. My favorites were The Iron Man Experience, Mystic Manor, and Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars
Character Meet and Great
I have never met so many characters in one day at Disneyland. I took a picture with Micky Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and Koda.
The Shows
Between the rides and meet and greats I managed to see two shows: The Moana show, which had a great sing-along, and the Momentous Nighttime Spectacular, which was the end show with a bunch of fireworks. They were both so much fun!

Lamma Island
Lamma Island was the perfect place for me to conclude my time in Hong Kong. You can easily take the ferry from the city to this quiet little paradise. It´s about 5 euros for a return ticket. Walking around the island really allows you to embrace the laid-back vibes.
Explore The Island
Lamma Island is easily explored on foot. In fact, walking makes the experience even better! Wander through the narrow streets, sandy beaches, and lush forests that the island has to offer. And don't forget to take a break at one of the many cute coffee shops or grab a beer at the marina and watch the sunset.
Swimming
Swimming in Hong Kong can be a refreshing way to cool off on hot days. After exploring Lamma Island, take a break at one of the beaches and enjoy a swim in the ocean!
Shopping
On Lamma Island, there are several shops and stalls selling second-hand or handmade items. I really enjoyed picking out some new jewelry and I also found an English book. I love the trust here - some shops don't have an employee, just a money box. They trust you not to steal, and I'm all for that!

Accomodation
I stayed in one hostels during my four days in Hong Kong. I used a hostel as a base and took daytrips from there.

Food
I spend around 10 euros a day on food. For breakfast and lunch I went to 7/11 and for diner I went to the market.

Transport
I only used public transport in Hong Kong. For expamle: the subwy from the airport and the ubway ot disneyland.
TOTAL: €90
Activities
Most of my activities i Hong Kong where free, like walking the avaneu of the stars. Whoever the Peak Tram and Disneyland where expensive.
